San Pedro Feria: Marbella’s October Fair

Every October, San Pedro Alcántara erupts with festivity throughout one of Marbella’s most traditional week-long celebrations. The town fills with music, fairground rides, horses, flamenco dresses, fireworks and late-night festivities.

But San Pedro Feria is much deeper than an autumn fair. Its roots stretch back to the town’s beginnings in the 19th century, and the celebrations still revolve around 19 October, which is the feast day of San Pedro (Saint Peter) of Alcántara.

This year, the much anticipated San Pedro Feria takes place from Tuesday 13 to Monday 19 October 2026, ending on the patron saint’s day.

Modern San Pedro Alcántara grew from the Colonia Agrícola de San Pedro Alcántara, established in 1860 by General Manuel Gutiérrez de la Concha, the first Marqués del Duero.

The Marqués chose the name partly in tribute to his mother, Petra de Alcántara, and partly because of his family’s devotion to Saint Peter of Alcántara, a 16th-century Franciscan friar from Extremadura. His feast day falls on 19 October, which became the town’s principal patronal celebration.

Local festivities were already taking place by around 1870, while the earliest surviving printed feria programme dates from 1896. That year, celebrations lasted just two days, with a Mass and procession, public dancing, games, fireworks and even a temporary bullring in Plaza de la Iglesia, built using carts and wooden boards.

By the 1940s and 1950s, the feria had expanded to around four days, with fireworks, music, dancing and children’s games surrounding the main celebration on 19 October.

As San Pedro grew, so did its feria.

Getting to San Pedro Feria

San Pedro Alcántara lies around 10 kilometres west of Marbella centre, between Puerto Banús and Guadalmina.

The main feria takes place at the Recinto Ferial de La Caridad, while the town centre remains an important part of the celebrations, particularly Plaza de la Iglesia, where traditional events and processions take place.

During feria week, traffic and parking can become busy around the main venues, particularly on concert nights. The Town Hall normally publishes temporary transport arrangements and shuttle services as part of each year’s programme↗, so it is worth checking the latest information before travelling.
